Glad to see Colorado pushing back against the feds—immigration enforcement has become a tool of oppression, not justice. Local communities should absolutely have the autonomy to protect their people, especially when the federal system is so deeply broken. That said, I hope this bill actually centers immigrant voices and doesn’t just become a political talking point.

Honestly, it’s about time Colorado stepped up to protect undocumented folks from the constant fear of ICE raids. Local communities know better than the feds how to handle these situations with compassion and humanity. I get that Polis is hesitant, but the moral urgency here should outweigh political caution. These are our neighbors, coworkers, and friends—we should be doing everything we can to keep families together. Props to the state Dems for pushing forward despite the pressure.

The bill would further block local cooperation with federal authorities like ICE and attempt to make it illegal to conduct deportation operations in certain Colorado locations. It’s in part a response to the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.

Colorado lawmakers have overwhelmingly passed a bill that would stop any more grocery stores from selling hard liquor in the state. But the fight over the measure may not be over.

The bill’s Democratic sponsors have been drafting the measure for weeks, and its introduction has been delayed amid negotiations with a leery Gov. Jared Polis.
